Another Update - I'm Back in NZ

It's been a little while. Just completed my last week in Bogotá, and it was hectic. There was so much going in both Bogotá and Wellington that the blog got ended up being pushed to the backburner. But it's okay, I am back now.

So, what's been happening since you last heard from me? Mostly just finishing up everything. Lots and lots of goodbyes. There was an exhibit we did, but there's a separate post coming on that. We also went to Modern Art Museum and the Gold Museum, and both of those were epic. I did a second trip up Monserrate to do the bird trail. Apparently some species of hummingbirds don't have legs, which is a fact that is haunting me. And, of course, 30+ hours of travel back to New Zealand.

I had been told that Santiago Airport is a "shithole", but when we were there the first time I didn't see it. After an 8 hour stopover however, my opinion has shifted. Why is there nowhere to refill your drink bottle? Why is the airport the same shape as Chile? Why is gate C and D located on opposite ends of the airport?! Not to mention their McDonalds kind of sucked. Those chips and nuggets were not up to my standards, even for McDonalds.

The eight hour stopover in Santiago was followed by a 13 hour flight and a whopping 10 minute stopover in Sydney. The 13 hour flight wasn't actually as bad as you would have thought; I managed to stay awake during most of it, fueled only by my guilty pleasure for Shark Tank and Runner Duck's Bomber Crew, a fantastic game with a name I could not say at an airport. To get our flight to Sydney however, was a mad rush. You see, that eight hour stopover was only supposed to be seven. We were lucky to even make that flight; however our luggage did not.

Overall, I'm glad to be back in New Zealand, glad to be back to my bed and extra glad to have a toilet that isn't ridiculously short. Don't worry; this isn't goodbye yet. I've still got a couple of posts to write out from last week, so you've still got a little more of me to go. However, for the rest of today my goal is to stave off the jet lag. Have one final photo dump from my last week in Bogotá.

Hasta luego,

Milly
